HackerPipes Inc. Announces the LowDowns™ for Yamaha Roadstars Aggressive Drag Pipe Offers Style without Sacrificing Performance

Scotts Valley, Calif. March 13, 2006 – HackerPipes Inc. today announced the release of the LowDown™ for the Yamaha Roadstar. The LowDowns™ are the most aggressive looking and sounding exhaust system offered by HackerPipes. The short drag pipe designed to meet the growing interest in curved drag pipes, however offers a mini version of the patented HackerPipes core for proper mid-range power.

Custom builders today offer many different variations of curved, short, drag pipes and people are anxious to buy them and install them. Unfortunately, drag pipes, though they sound ferocious, do not perform well under normal riding conditions. Drag pipes, like the name says, are tuned for top end and high RPM (revolutions per minute) performance from big displacement engines. HackerPipes understands the need for sound and style so they have created their LowDowns™ to answer the beg and call from riders. The mini core placed in the end of the pipe is what sets it apart from other drag pipes by adding back pressure--increasing mid range and making it perform for everyday riding while still giving best in class sound and top end performance.

“Drag pipes are tuned for performance at high rpm and for use with large displacement engines,” said Ronnie Hacker, vice president of research and development. “Typically they are improperly installed and rob the engine of power. With our mini-core at the end of the pipe the engine will perform between 2500 and 5500 RPM, where most of us riders ride.”

Many people try to add mid range with use of anti-reversion or torque cones in the engine head. HackerPipes does not recommend this. Torque cones prevent heat from dissipating from the head of the engine causing excessive heat that may cause damage to the top end of the bike and its valves.

“We have seen many cases so far when a rider damages their engine trying to get their drag pipes to perform properly, said Ronnie. “This is why we have created the LowDowns, so the rider can have their cake and eat it to—it is truly the best of both worlds in performance and style.”

The LowDowns™ come in mirror polished stainless steel and includes a life time warranty. They have machined, heavy gauged stainless steel flanges and spigot and will mount around all stock and aftermarket air cleaners without any need for modification.
